Taking a break from the usual political rants I make, I thought I would share something a little more light hearted today.
I love music. I love country music. I love pop music. I can understand some RAP. I just like most music but, unfortunately I can’t sing. At church I have been known to make a joyful noise unto the Lord, albeit it off key.
My singing is so bad my children and grandchildren have asked me not to sing at church or any gathering larger than our immediate family. I have labored at trying to perfect the art of lip synching. Years ago, when comments were made about my lack of talent in the musical field, much to the chagrin of family members I would reply, I could have been a Rock and Roll Star. This response has been repeated many times over several years.
Recently I had a family member remark about my singing and it struck a mushy spot in my brain and I sat down and wrote the following. I hope you find it laughable and enjoy it.
ROCK AND ROLL STAR
I could have been a Rock and Roll Star
Alas though I’m not, so here I are.
I could sing like Jerry Lee Lewis
And drive around in a big, fancy car.
If I were a famous Rock and Roll star
I’d be playing music, on an old guitar.
I could jump on a stage, as if a trampoline.
Watching my fans, all shake and scream.
The days of Rock and Roll are gone
Rap has replaced my favorite song.
I have a beard, and some gray hair too
Rock and Roll, was my own Waterloo.
I should have been a Rock and Roll Star
But I never made it, so here I are.
I’ll never have the fame, or fortune too
I’m just an old has been, with nothing to do.
Have a wonderful Easter season and watch for my next BLOG which will be titled Easter.
ð Happy Easter as well to you and yours!
