ELIMINATE

President Trump and a great many in Congress ran on a platform to repeal Obamacare.  In my limited way of thinking, another word for repeal is eliminating, especially as it pertains to Obamacare.

To exemplify the total ineptness of Congress we need only look back at the previous seven years of inactivity.  Since the Affordable Care Act was first passed there has not been a moment of silence by Republicans but what they were extolling their plans to repeal this socialistic act.  As the past election unfurled we began to hear repeal and replace.  We did not send people to Washington to replace, modify, adjust or manipulate this act.  We sent them to repeal or eliminate, period.  After all this time they have not been able to come to terms on any action to take regarding Obamacare.

Explain to me the benefit of controlling both houses of Congress and the Oval Office if we cannot leverage this majority into action.  It is becoming very interesting as the deadline for passing any corrective action with a simple majority is rapidly approaching.  How difficult can it be to simply do what you campaigned to do and were elected to do?  Get rid of Obamacare before it breaks the bank.  Graham-Cassidy is definitely not the answer.  We are headed down the road to a single payer plan that we cannot afford and to rationed medical care which we do not want.

I acknowledge that I am not the highest educated person among us, but I do feel I have an adequate amount of common sense.  I say that knowing common sense is a rarity in Washington.  I repeat myself from earlier posts; health care insurance is not a right guaranteed by our constitution, it is a privilege one earns through hard work.  I have compassion for those that have difficulty obtaining coverage but I despise those that ride the coat tails of hard working Americans for a free ride.

Someone please explain to me why the following simple steps would not help the cause of affordable insurance and solve most of the problem.  First, immediately erase the restrictions limiting the sale of insurance across state lines and thereby making free market competition drive the prices down.

Next, stop the practice of government forcing unwanted and unneeded coverage on all individuals.  Companies can make available policies that their customers want and meet the needs of these customers.  Forcing maternity care on an individual like me would go away thus lowering the prices charged.

Third we must, as soon as possible, stop providing free medical care to every illegal immigrant that sets foot on our soil.  There can be methods derived to force these undeserving people to participate in their treatments.

I guarantee you it did not take me seven years of blood, sweat and tears to come to these solutions.  Whether you agree or disagree with my suggestions, I think they are a giant step forward to correcting the injustices of health care we now face.  It really isn’t radical, just common sense.

If Congress is this unsure of itself, or is this unqualified to fulfill the demands of their constituency they leave us no choice but to fire everyone of them.  The only way to fire them is at the ballot box.  Try voting, you might find it exhilarating.  It’s an experience in which all legal adult citizens of this country can partake.  There is no longer a poll tax.

There is a small chance I might be wrong, but, I’m still right.

The thoughts and ideas expressed above are exclusively those of Jack Straley.  We may agree, and that’s fine, or we may disagree, that’s okay too.  My sole purpose is to encourage others to think, study, and become involved. Exercise your freedom and above all, when presented the opportunity, please vote.

  1. The Republican leadership is horrified at the prospect of being called murderers for “taking away” the health care of millions of Americans. This is why they don’t have the stomach to “repeal”. They don’t have the guts to stand up to name calling and insults , and they most certainly won’t risk their majority to do so. Their internal polling tells them that if they abolish ObamaCare and don’t have a replacement “plan” that suitably provides health care to everyone currently riding the system for free, they will face a merciless bloodbath at the polls. I think they’re wrong. I think if they can’t act on the status of their current majority, they’re support will dissolve anyway. Why should I continue to vote for and advocate for a Republican majority that is too scared to act?

Until this changes, don’t expect any movement on abolishing this monstrosity. What we can do is stop sending establishment politicians to Washington. This is why the vote for Judge Moore is so important tomorrow..
