SUBSIDY

A subsidy is defined by Mr. Webster as “a sum of money granted by the government or a public body to assist an industry or business so that the price of a commodity or service may remain low or competitive.” This is exactly what our government has granted to that elected group of do nothing representation known as Congress, for their healthcare.

There is no sense of urgency to help the common man and his expensive situation with health care. Why should there be? The people that can ease this situation are exempt from the mandates they have imposed on the rest of us. Until their subsidies are eliminated and therefore causing them to face the same issues we do, nothing will ever be done. Mr. President, you can pull the plug and start draining the sewer by revoking these immoral subsidies.

To avoid the insurance companies suffering huge losses for providing coverage dictated by the “Affordable Care Act,” subsidies have also been awarded to them. This makes clear the situation that government has no business in the market place. How can Congress regulate private industry when they have zero experience in managing successful enterprises in the world of private business? These subsidies were mandated to keep these insurance companies from going broke or filing bankruptcy.

In 2009 we heard that there were some businesses too large to let them fail. Many companies did fail and one common thread among the failing companies was the excessive regulations congress had imposed on them making it impossible to survive. One company so deemed was General Motors. This once magnificent organization should have been allowed to file bankruptcy and face the same challenges other smaller enterprises faced. Once again our government, at the taxpayers’ expense, stepped in and subsequently the automobile will never be the same again. This shows the reward for poor management and inept organization. The labor unions were the only ones that benefited in this bailout. Is the insurance business headed in a different direction?

Congress should never be allowed to be exempt from the laws and regulations imposed on the populace. Government bailouts should never be the end for an industry that is ruined by the actions of government. Government is not business minded and business is not government or bureaucracy minded and never the two have been able to meld.

We have a successful businessman in office now and he is trying to separate government from business while putting business practices and theories in place. We cannot continue on the path we have been traveling. Entitlements are nothing more than subsidies and bailouts in order to garner votes. Stop the subsidies now and bring America back to the fiscal greatness it once was.

If our schools and educators want to rewrite history, let them back up to THE reign OF John Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson. That where and when the subsidy entitlements were set free to roam like a wildfire.

I may be wrong, but I’m still right.
