The unofficial start of summertime has arrived with this Memorial Day. It still appears to be spring ere with thunderstorms, hail, wind and tornadoes, but the temperature is rising. It is time to enjoy life, go play, golf, swim or just relax. Take a break from hectic schedules and the continuous news, fake or real and, politics. This is the start of the Golden Age and revitalization of minds and spirits. Think only of pleasant things and enjoy life to the fullest. In the end, God will take care of everything we think is so important.
Following is something I penned a couple days ago. I hope you find it calming, relaxing even humorous. I am not and never will be a great poet but at times I share things I write. This is one of those times, enjoy.
THE WHISTLER
There came from afar, a whistling sound
Between the trees and above the ground.
A sound so softly sweet, yet I could see
It came not on winged bird, or a honey bee.
A big man with axe, upon his shoulder
Walking proud and even looking bolder,
Whistled a tune, so pleasant to hear,
It brought peace and pleasure, to the ear.
A happy man, can whistle a happy song
With every light step, as he goes along.
Every whistled song, can make you glad
No happy song, is ever whistled bad.
I have a happy song, within my heart
It lifts up others, when whistling I start.
Others around me stop, so all can hear
The soothing sounds, that calm their fear.
One need not sing or even play a horn.
For with the love of music, they are born.
I whistle all day, as along my way I go
Whistling to nature, my love I show.
Come and walk, hand in hand with me
On sand and grass and through the trees.
Together, we can whistle, a happy song
And find that peace, for which we long.
May your summer be wonderful. Hope to see you in September.
