I want to take this opportunity to wish everyone a healthy, happy Easter. The price was paid for us, let’s take advantage of it. Following is a short poem I wrote for Easter, hope you enjoy it.
THREE TREES
The Bible has stories, with some being of trees,
The Garden of Eden has two special species.
The tree of knowledge near the tree of life,
With fruit forbidden would bring new strife.
These two trees from a garden long ago
Would bring forth a life that introduced woe.
God gave an order to create mortal man,
This fruit don’t eat, but the snake said yes you can
Now three rough crosses on the landscape stand,
Two thieves, beside the savior, of our land.
Stripped of clothes, with bloody nail scared hands
Our sins erased, we were given new commands
The Dogwood tree, with spring blooms, so sweet
Is where they nailed our Savior’s hands and feet.
The trees of life and knowledge, in Eden grew
Then on a mount a rugged cross, would hold a Jew
This rough tree that held the Savior’s empty shell
Delivered us a way, to escape the fires of hell.
God’s grace and love, was so radiantly shone
Through pain and suffering he brought us home.
The grave stood empty this holy Easter morn
The price for life eternal he had now borne.
The burden and price for sin, for us had gone
And never again would we walk, on earth, alone.
