I’ve been wanting to give my two cents worth of comments about Brittney Griner, who I’ll refer to as BG below. For some unexplained reason, I’ve been following this story! Most people have heard all the basic details about her being arrested at the Russian airport attempting to smuggle cannabis oil in a Vape cartridge. I can guess with 100% certainty what political party you associate with based on your feeling concerning her arrest and imprisonment in Russia on smuggling drugs. Let me state without a shadow of a doubt that BG was guilty and she even confessed to breaking their laws unintentionally. Based on my limited knowledge of the American legal system this is a fact! 

My opinion is, her sentence was too harsh and I would like to see the current administration try to bring her home. Now whether you think that the administration should have offered a convicted terrorist arms dealer to secure her freedom is another story which I won’t address today. In America we see cases where people convicted of armed violent crimes don’t spend half of the sentence that BG received. I know my opinion has nothing to do what has occurred in Russia where they are stricter with drug convictions. Now she’s being used as a political prisoner but this is her own doing! 

I know there’s a lot more important current issues than what happens regarding BG’s situation. There’s an open border where drugs, terrorists, human trafficking and inhumane treatment of foreigners is a daily occurrence. The economy is in a recession with record high gas and food prices! Crime is rampant! All one has to do is open YouTube and see crimes committed in broad daylight by people that our justice system has previously released with no bail. We’re having to beg countries that don’t like us to produce and sell us more oil vs producing our own here. Our national oil reserves are being depleted to temporarily reduce the price to consumers. However, this can’t go on for much longer. We have enough oil and natural gas reserves to last for 100 years. Our people are as divided as I have ever seen. Too many things are considered racist or sexist that those terms have lost all meanings! Schools want to teach students about; gender, equity and saving the planet before they can read or write. Looks like many people want to return to the 50’s and 60’s regarding race relations……. separate but equal????????  

OK back to BG. She checks all the boxes for the progressive part of the population. She’s a black person, that’s part of the LGBTQ+++ Community, female and a social justice warrior! BG also checks all the boxes for the far-right conservatives. BG is a convicted criminal, hates the U.S. and disrespects the flag and believes in equal outcome not equal justice! Why BG and so many other Black Americans are kneeling and disrespecting our flag and country is the strangest thing I’ve seen in my lifetime. Colin Kaepernick started this to fight Police Brutality, and systemic racism! Since then, many people have followed that lead but I have yet to hear any good reasons how this type of protest or display has or will help to prevent Police Brutality or reduce Racism! Ask anyone to give you two reasons how kneeling helps prevent police brutality or promotes equality. We live in the freest most wealthy country in the world! Four million people have illegally crossed our southern border  since Jan 2021! to gain entry. 

Like it or not BG is a celebrity and as such she’s treated differently and that’s just the way things are in America. It’s a big deal if Kim Kardashian gets in a car accident and it makes the press, not so much if I have a similar vehicle incident. The President falls off a bike and it’s a National Story. If I fell off a mountain there would be two lines in the obituary column! It’s a good thing that BG is a Olympic and NCAA Basketball Champion and a member of the WNBA league. Please tell me this! How many people would have heard the name of Whelan if it hadn’t been for BG??? Not Me! BG has brought the whole country together. Both Liberals/Progressives and Conservatives are pissed off but for different reasons. That’s One Thing We Can All Agree On! What do you think?  

Now if you read this whole rant from a madman with too much time on his hands, you’re wondering what this all has to do with Politics! Quite a Lot. The elected political administration has the bully pulpit which helps to drive all the cultral changes in our country! That’s the reason we as a country have swung so far to the left during the current administration!!!!!  That makes the Midterm Elections critical for everyone to VOTE!
