There was a time when we talked about green and we were referring to trees, lawns, crops or the color of clothes. Today the word green has a completely new meaning. The new green deal is being promulgated by supposedly educated, intelligent people but unfortunately they have no common sense. One cannot go from full reliance on fossil fuels to green energy with the flip of a switch.
Oil makes the world turn. It is the substance that all machinery relies on. It reduces friction and reduces heat. It is a universal product that no one holds the patent on. It was created by an act of nature and belongs to all the people to use as they see fit and as best fits their needs.
Our oval office occupier has stated repeatedly that he will KILL the fossil fuel industry. This he cannot do, it is impossible. This is where common sense, of which there is very little in Washington D.C., has been ignored.
Wind generated power is a favored child of the green movement. However we must be extremely un-green to get the wind turbines operational. Most metal parts of the machines are forged in foundries with fires fueled by coal, a fossil fuel. Once the pieces are manufactured they must be hauled hundreds of miles on huge trucks that are fueled by fossil fuels. Once assembled, on site using fossil fueled heavy lifting equipment they still rely on the lubricating offered by the fossil fuel products.
Solar farms, aside from their destructive habits to the environment, rely on fossil fuel to be manufactured, transported to the farm sites and erected. Once erected the infrastructure to transmit the energy to the power grid must be created, all the while using fossil fuel and fossil fuel byproducts. The existing electric vehicles are being recharged with electricity generated by coal or liquid natural gas. This does nothing to better the environment.
The crossover to electric vehicles is a great idea and good for the future, but it cannot be done overnight. There is a lack of reliable charging stations available for these cars and it is not the responsibility of the public to use taxpayer money to build the network necessary. The vehicle manufacturers and existing fueling stations should step up to the challenge of providing this service along with the services they already provide.
Replacing home heating fuel with green is not realistic. We need heat on days the wind does not blow and the sun does not shine. Until sufficient ways are created to store these sources of electrical energy it will remain a not realistic way to heat homes.
We need the radical green new deal supporters to have a glass of reality, immediately. We are watching a war in Europe that is bringing us perilously close to WWIII increasing our dependence on oil. We are negotiating with dictators for the acquisition of more oil when we have more than is needed right here in country. Greens have put us in this position. The oval office occupier needs to relax the ridiculous restrictions he placed on the fossil fuel programs in his first few days in office. His staff needs to learn the difference between leases and permits. Having leases does not guarantee permits. Permits and drilling do not guarantee the discovery of oil deposits. We cannot open the Keystone XL because it was never built. We can finish construction of the pipeline and transport Canadian oil safer and more efficiently than is now being done with trucks and trains.
Pursue green all you can. Develop electric vehicles as fast as you can. But, do not try to put life on hold, ignoring our immediate needs, until there are viable solutions in place. Make America strong and independent again.
Drill baby drill, pump baby pump and make America strong and great in spite of the selfish wishes of the John Kerry followers. America was and can be again energy independent.
