There are so many styles and uses for fences one could get overwhelmed when looking at all the choices.  My backyard has a multipurpose fence.  It is designed to be pleasing in appearance while offering a degree of privacy.  My fence works well keeping my faithful pooch in the confines of his home area.  It’s never been tested but it probably could be a great deterrent for keeping other dogs and some small animals out.

In August 1961 the Communist forces of the eastern bloc, led by Russia, began erection of a famous fence.  It was known as the Berlin Wall and was just over 96 miles long.  It served its purposes until November 1989 when it was destroyed resulting in reunification of East and West Berlin.  The sole purpose of the wall was to keep East Germans in and all others out.  With it came extreme poverty and absolute socialistic rule.

Over the last two weeks there have been fences erected around many of our state capitols with the stated purpose of security.  At the same time, and receiving the bulk of the publicity was a fence being placed around our nation’s capital building and the White House.  Again the stated purpose is to keep unwanted individuals out and offer security.  The new fences, supplemented by over 25,000 armed National Guard troops, gives the image of a third world country.

We have another great fence, known around the world that spans a large portion of our southern border.  This fence has increased our national security in more ways than one.  It has limited sex trafficking, child abuse, drug importation and illegal immigration.  I have had no reports of the effectiveness it has had on keeping people in our country.  It is a fence long overdue in being built and the aid it has provided in our border recognition has a value undetermined.

Tomorrow our world changes.  The incoming administration is working feverishly to get more fencing and security surrounding the capitol.  Fear is running rampant that democrats and liberals will be overzealous in their peaceful protests with BLM and Antifa while radical republicans will be busy burning, looting and shooting innocent bystanders.  Regardless what happens, have no fear, republicans and conservatives will bear the brunt of media and idiot talking heads.

Yes, starting tomorrow and growing in importance every day thereafter will be our southern border fence.  It will never keep another person out but it will keep freedom loving patriots in.  It’s much longer, taller and nicer than the Berlin Wall ever was but in the treatment of human life it will be much worse.

Education without intelligence and common sense is not an asset.
