REALITY

In a world of make believe, everything is just wonderful.  However, I live in a world of reality and in reality I am very scared.  Reality has things that are warm and beautiful but it also has some very ugly scary aspects.

There is an unknown length of time remaining in this political season.  The election is almost here but the end result may not be known for quite a while.  Thank goodness it appears we will have a full Supreme Court to help end the election if we need it.  Falsehoods are commonplace and promises have been made that were never intended to be kept.  Each party is trying to sell its solutions to the world problems as the best and only way.  I offer “let the buyer beware.”

The Democrat ticket is promising higher taxes, this is not a lie but reality.  The left is promising more spending than ever before, this too is reality, but where does the money come from.  The left is promising free or very affordable health care for all.  Health care for all can only be supplied through government run, socialized medical programs.  This will guarantee a down grading of the medical system we are used to and reality says people will die while waiting for treatment.

The single item that scares me the most is the stance the Democrat candidates have taken on the elimination of fossil fuels.  The oil industry is the most visible and includes fracking, new drilling, transporting and refining.  The world of reality I live in sees a world that will come to a stop without oil.  Every machine ever invented or created requires oil for lubricating and continued operation.  The oil industry employs over 12,000,000 jobs not including residual jobs

or trickle down jobs.  These jobs would not be replaced with clean energy alternatives.

Imagine a world with no cars, trains, buses or airplanes as we now know them.  Add no ships, freighters or cruise lines sailing the seas.  Electricity is not the single answer to replace oil.  Nuclear has been fought by liberals for generations and solar is not reliable or efficient in its present state.  We have become very reliant on electricity without considering the cost or methods used to generate this energy source.

Having retired after fifty-eight years in the automotive industry let me offer one interesting fact.  More natural resources such as coal, oil and natural gas are consumed generating the electricity to operate electric vehicles than are use with existing fuels such as gas and diesel.  The carbon footprint would grow to tremendous unmanageable amounts if this practice were enacted.  The demand for electricity would explode and new generating facilities would be needed increasing the carbon footprint.  More generating plants demands more fuel for generating and the cost for the average household for electricity would at a minimum triple.

With the scarcity of fossil fuel the price for what gas could be found would increase from six to ten fold.  These increases would up the cost of all manufacturing resulting in higher prices for finished goods which would cause less demand.  The lessened demand would cost more jobs.  It is not unreasonable to see the price of a loaf of bread to be as high as $10.00.  The land of plenty would eventually become another third world country.

We now enjoy a thriving economy and a way of life envied by the rest of the world.  It is reality that we have worked hard to reduce our carbon footprint with great results.  Scientists and engineers work tirelessly every day to continue improving our impact on mother earth.  We can continue our successful economy and sustain our way of life through common sense and planning, which the left has trouble exercising.

Our small part of the world cannot afford to eliminate millions of jobs, raise taxes on the citizenry and cater only to the rich elites while continuing to be successful.  We need people that are willing to sacrifice their fortunes for the good of country and people rather than those that have gone to Washington to gain their fortunes at the expense of the populace.  We have one such leader now, President Donald John Trump.

Early voting has had a huge negative impact on the electoral process in this country.  We cannot allow it to be the precedent for future elections.  In less than one week, or longer if some judge has his way, we will determine what direction we will go with our nation.  This is a critical and important election.  Halfhearted early voting is not the answer, it causes more problems.  We must elect people with integrity and the good of our nation foremost in their minds.  In reality we must elect conservative republican leaders and take control of the House of Representatives, Congress and the White House.  Vote.  Vote early if you must and vote often if you can.
