MEMORIAL DAY

After having walked among the graves at Arlington and stood before the tomb of the unknown I felt the need to express some kind of tribute to all that have fallen for our country.  The American cemeteries on foreign lands speak loudly remembering what this holiday is for.  This is my tribute to all fallen heroes that died for freedom and liberty,

      MEMORIALS

I have stood where men have died
Where long lines come and wait.
I know the feelings for which they cried
And why they battled, to this fate.

The marble shrines encircled there
Have warmed the chilled night air.
As those who see through salty tears
What brought to us these carefree years

In peace and love, and then through wars
These shrines exist and wave their scars.
The poles that stand with flags just not,
As breezes bring you next to God.

Our people that are buried there
Have left us free, and this we share.
The reasons now, at times not plain
But still we must, with any pain.

The grassy slopes where blossoms bloom
The soldier lies within his tomb.
And bugles blow across our land
As men come home to an open hand.

With what I’ve seen, I saw the way
The price, these men did pay.
As I in humble accord did nod
I know these men, found peace with God.
