I sit here looking out the window seeing my lawn. I see grass, swings, trees and butterflies. It all looks nice and serene however, I am on the inside looking out. Outside, unseen from my chair are the mosquitos. They wait in silence for the door to open and then they attack with all their fury. They fight all out for their territory and fulfill their desire to make you leave. And eventually you do leave.
Once back inside in your safe haven you think of all the preventative means you could have pursued to make it possible to enjoy your comfortable life and the out of doors. There are numerous sprays and dusts that can be sprayed upon the grass to eliminate the pests. There is an abundance of repellants that can be applied to the body that will repel mosquitoes while over powering any cologne or perfume you might have on. Now you realize a little effort on your part would have made a huge difference.
There is a similarity between the scene above and politics in our lives. To me democrats and liberals are the mosquitos while the do nothing gardeners resemble the actions of republicans. One must admire the democrats in one respect; they will fight for their party’s platform planks as if ridding the lawn of mosquitoes. To the left truth is not necessarily the truth. The truth is what they say and want it to be. Meanwhile they unite and support wholeheartedly their members. Republicans need to learn how to deny untruths and fight as the democrat socialists do.
I referred to my lawn earlier. Tending the lawn is a year round chore, not just one Tuesday a year. It’s late summer, fall is coming and leaves are beginning to fall. The grass still needs to be mowed and all made ready for the coming winter. Next spring things will turn green again and begin to grow and bloom. Once again there is a correlation in this and politics.
Gardeners will spend countless hours working in their own gardens both flower and vegetable. Almost immediately they learn one valuable lesson. The fresh new flower planted to bring beauty and enjoyment will allow itself to be pulled from the ground with ease. The unwanted weed while looking pretty at the beginning will resist being destroyed as hard as one can imagine. The taproot will cling to the soil and very seldom will come up with the rest of the plant. So is it in politics. We need to work hard and long to rid ourselves of the weeds in government. This has to be done as a part of draining the swamp.
Back to unifying and fighting. I don’t know how we little people can support the candidates and parties when they don’t make themselves available to us. I have urged people to get bumper stickers, yard signs and buttons to help spread their message. But I ask, how many signs, bumper stickers and lapel buttons do you see? People tell me of repeated attempts to contact their local Republican Party headquarters, to no avail. Phones repeatedly are not answered, phone messages are not answered and calls returned. The offices are locked up and appear cold and dark. This is not how we win.
If your local party representatives are too lazy or too busy to do the job, get them out. Have people that care about more than their title hold these positions. From local chairs to state and on to national these people need to unite and get off their dead butts and start working for us. I felt the republicans were sure to win this fall but now I worry. Republicans spend too much time crying about lies being told while democrats just ignore the ones aimed at them and keep on charging. The more the republicans cry the more they appear to be guilty whether they are or not.
This November is critical. Harass your party leaders until they listen. Fight for what you know is right and then vote accordingly. God bless you and God bless America, please.
