I have been living under the assumption there was an election last November. I must be mistaken. I thought that election contained a message of concern from the men and women of this country. The message was loud and clear, curtail reckless spending, get border security and build a strong economy. Somehow they didn’t get the message.
I feel I have just had a dagger plunged into my chest. My president just signed the most idiotic budget, spending bill that could be dreamed up. Thank God, it’s only for six months. Then we can continue the game; kick the can down the road again. They called it an omnibus bill. It was 2,230 pages and congress had 1,000 minutes to read it, understand it and then vote on it. How much could any individual know about this bill in this time frame? This proves they do not care. Here is the definition of an omnibus bill: “An omnibus bill is a proposed law that covers a number of diverse or unrelated topics. Omnibus is derived from Latin and means “for everything”. An omnibus bill is a single document that is accepted in a single vote by a legislature but packages together several measures into one or combines diverse subjects.” By this definition, it truly was an omnibus.
I am disappointed that our president would allow his name to be associated with this bloated spending bill that doesn’t address the concerns of the American people. Yes, our military needs to be strong and well paid, but when do we stop throwing money at Planned Parenthood, the national killing machine, NPR that pushes liberalism and makes select individuals rich. The list can go on but I’ll stop for now. Mr. Trump promised people this would stop; now he becomes part of it. He states he will never sign another bill like this one, we’ll see.
I have said repeatedly that our country was on the brink of a tipping point. I fear we have now been put on life support and our chances for survival are dwindling. There will be no easy or fast recovery. Our job now is to find out how each of our elected officials voted on this bill. If they endorsed it and approved it, we need to get the dogs out, now. Congress has no concern for the American people or our country. It’s a shame they can’t just blow up or disappear in some manner all at the same time. The greenest assemblage of rookie politicians could be no more dangerous than what we presently have.
I go back to the mantra I have pushed for a long time. If you care about your country you must become educated as to what your representatives and senators are doing. Let everyone you meet or engage in conversation with know what is happening. Each and every one of us must register to vote and then get out and do it. Help others get to the polls, do anything you can. This is our last chance to save our country. It’s not a game, there will be no winners. We need Congress to get down to business, create and pass a realistic budget or just politely step aside and let some true patriots have a stab at it.
If you think I’m wrong, remember I’m still right.
