SLAUGHTER

I remember growing up in country.  Times were much simpler; at least as a youngster, I thought so.  It was always a grand time when we would unite with a neighbor and slaughter a hog or a calf that would provide fresh meat for our families.  Yes we would slaughter, eradicate or eliminate an animal raised for that destiny.

Today I look around and see things are not as simple as I would have thought it would be.  Everything on this great planet we call earth has a specific destiny.  Some of these destinies involve being slaughtered.

Since the congress of the United States refuses to obey the constitution and the directives of the very people that elected them, they are determining their destiny.  Today there are bills in the congress, especially the Senate, waiting to be discussed and then voted for or against.  The people have made their desires known as to the deposition of these bills. While waiting for action we see the true elite attitude of the people we have elected and how they disregard the wishes of the people and act solely to attract votes from the opposing side.

Mr. Trump is fighting to drain the miserable swamp we have let be created in Washington D.C.  However, he cannot do this alone.  He needs the support of a do nothing congress to help him acquire the constitutional authority to act as he needs.  No one, republicans or democrats, want that to happen.  They have entrenched themselves into a system that rewards them with great riches, at our expense.  If Mr. Trump completes the challenge he is attempting, the money well congress keeps digging into for their personal enrichment will dry up like the remainder of the swamp.

The health care bill now being considered will seal the destiny of republicans, depending on how they vote or don’t vote.  It would be best to let Obamacare die its own slow death rather than place a republican stamp on something as equally bad.  They must change directions and work on issues that people care about.  Leave the health care alone for the time being.  Republicans and democrats can agree on the need for and financing for the infrastructure program.  For the first time in this presidency both parties will come together to accomplish something.

Tax reform is the big issue hanging over everyone’s head.  If the republicans will get busy and work on this they might save their legacy.  Rich, poor and middle class will support tax reform and the politicians will have no choice but to fall in line.

Acting on health care while not acting on infrastructure and tax reform will determine the fate of republicans.  If no action comes forth they will be in deep trouble.  The 2018 elections will be like leading the hogs and calves to slaughter.  They will immediately stop the historic event of the Republican Party controlling both houses of congress at the same time they control the oval office.

History teaches us that republicans are not smart.  Every time they are given the opportunity to excel, they shoot themselves in the foot.  Will this time be any different?  Get prepared there may be a bloody slaughter of republicans next November.  The only good I see coming out of that, we will finally and forever be rid of John McCain.

And Happy Birthday to someone special.
