The first one hundred days of the Trump administration are nearing their completion. We need to take a deep breath at this time and determine the progress or failure we each feel. One hundred days is not very long.
I have survived almost 25,915 days. I have made many decisions, many mistakes and many successes. I would hate the fact my life accomplishments were based on 0.003% of this time. Mr. Trump was elected president of this country, much to the chagrin of many, and his first term will consist of 1,460 days. We are now holding court to determine his success and worth based on the first 0.068% of this limited time of servitude. His accomplishments have been much greater than a first look and major media would have you believe.
With the political world being as divided, as it now appears, his accomplishments to date have been hard fought. His fulfillment of campaign promises would be more noticeable if the party that he ran on would stand up to their pledge. Our republican congress has cried the infants wail begging for the citizenry to give them control of both houses of congress. We did. A new cry emerged stating they now need the oval office controlled by a like minded republican conservative. We gave them that in November. We still see very little support from republicans helping him with his agenda. Why?
Some people are still in denial of a Trump election victory and a Trump presidency. They deny the legitimacy of the election in spite of the fact they had the worst candidate ever to run and they had no positive message for the working people. We denied her the job and life she felt she was entitled to, as she has done to so many others before. Today these same deniers work tirelessly attempting to be the obstruction for the advancement of our country. Eventually they will tire or realize they must change their tactics to win reelection.
The conservative base that supported and elected Mr. Trump remains solidly in his corner. I personally don’t like the fact, and there is much discussion, of his filling administration vacancies with democrats. If you look at the non-support and non-action of the republicans and place yourself in his position you might rationalize that is the way to get things done. I don’t feel it is. Look at history. Democrats never change. They talk a good story but do not bend. They remain loyal, beyond all reason, to the democrat mantra. Democrats will never endorse a republican or a republican idea.
The route to a two term presidency and success in his agenda is to stay true to himself and his devoted base. Do not risk failure by catering to the democrat platform to achieve unity and destroy your base. Many democrats may remain in a state of denial for years to come and that’s okay. Get the republican congress off their dead posteriors and continue the agenda that got you elected. We can succeed without democrat participation if we unite. Let the democrats continue down the path to the destruction of their party.
