TRUMPCARE

Obamacare has been one of the biggest, wide ranging failures our congress has had the opportunity to perpetuate on an unsuspecting populace.  One of the main reasons Mr. Trump was elected to the office of President of The United States of America was his promise to repeal the Affordable Care Act.

In a thinly veiled act to deceive the citizenry, a program now being called Trumpcare has been placed before the public.  The plan as presently proposed is no better than Obamacare and will be just as expensive.  The masquerade of this offering is no more than an attempt to buy votes at the expense of hard working Americans.  Taxpayers will continue to pay the bill for those that do not want to participate in a national insurance program.  Tax credits or tax deductions, call them what you want, are no more than a means of taking money from people striving to better themselves and redistributing it to those looking for a handout.

Many people state that they cannot afford the premiums or the co pays and deductibles.  These same individuals will visit their local electronics outlet and purchase cell phones, game consoles and televisions.  While purchasing they will be offered the opportunity to purchase an extended warranty or replacement plan for the item purchased.  They rush to purchase this coverage since it costs nothing down and is just a few dollars more per month on their payment schedule.  If payment in full were demanded at the time of purchase no one would buy.  Unknowingly the consumer often pays more for this coverage than a replacement unit would cost.  Most Americans today do not have the resources to write a check for the insurance premiums or deductibles required while visiting a doctor, therefore they feel entitled to have the government, or us, pay for them.  The vast majority of people living in this land of plenty do not have the resources on hand at any one time to write a check or pay cash for a $500.00 purchase, much less unwanted health care coverage.

I have never been accused of being fulsome when talking about our honorable congress persons.  Their only concern is acquiring the needed votes to stay in office regardless of the cost to our country.  We as a country cannot afford to furnish insurance coverage to every citizen.  It is time to let free enterprise dictate the coverage offered and the subsequent costs associated with it.  Insurance companies offer this insurance for one reason: to generate income and profits.  Most insurance companies today operate as banks and abuse the customers they need and the government is trying to push to them.  Once again government needs to stay out of private business.  One can only put so much lipstick on a pig, and when you’re through, you still have a pig.

If you think times are hard and money is tight, hold on.  Every venture into private business our Congress attempts continues to be a boondoggle.  Concentrate on protecting our legitimate rights and stop dreaming up new rights with the only purpose of gathering votes.  Follow the outline of our constitution and do what is right.

The future of Obamacare should be a short paragraph in the history books.  It must be repealed and not replaced with anything condoned or endorsed by congress, let free enterprise and market demands exist.  We can only sustain a limited number of Intrusions in our lives.  We are fast approaching that limit.

I repeat there will never be a fire sale on surplus common sense in Washington, D.C.

The thoughts and ideas expressed above are exclusively those of Jack Straley.  We may agree, and that’s fine, or we may disagree, that’s okay too.  My sole purpose is to encourage others to think, study, and become involved. Exercise your freedom and above all, when presented the opportunity, please vote.

  1. Hopefully this is just an opening gambit in a long term plan to remove government from our health care system.
