DIVIDED

United we stand, divided we fall, has been heard by all of us. Our founding fathers would not believe how appropriate that saying is these two hundred forty plus years this country has survived. This republic democracy has been hailed as the great experiment.  Is this experiment now on the verge of ending?

The inauguration of our forty-fifth president, Mr. Donald Trump, is only hours away. At this important time, we as a people seem to be more divided than anyone living can remember.  We have just completed a presidential campaign that was led. On the Democrat side the leader was Ms Hillary Clinton.  She ran on a platform of lying, cheating and self gratification.  She and her staunch followers have created a divide as large as possible.  The simple act of admitting defeat and going back to work would be a giant step forward in the healing of this divide.

Mr. John Lewis is loudly and proudly proclaiming he will boycott the inauguration of President-Elect Donald Trump. He is amassing a following of fellow Democrats while preaching this is the first time he has missed an inauguration in over thirty years.  That is a lie; therefore, he is a liar.  He boycotted the George W. Bush inauguration stating he doesn’t feel Bush was the legitimate president.  Sounds familiar doesn’t it.  How much other venom does he spread that is false?  He fits the idealistic mold of an extreme liberal Democrat.  He survives by actively seeking the division of Americans.

The actions of the losers in this election have shown themselves to be immature and willing to blindly follow a leader over the cliff of no return. Bernie Sanders and his socialistic programs with the entitlement society of Hillary Clinton do nothing but keep a class of people surviving in the lowest economic group, dependent on the government.  The legacy Harry Reid is leaving would be shameful to most people.  How any lower income black person, living in an inner city, can vote for a Democrat these days is beyond any comprehension I can muster.

Democrats are not the only ones trying to throw roadblocks for the Trump administration. John McCain, Lindsey Graham and Little Marco are prime examples of the republicans that would like to make this administration falter, all while smiling and voicing fake concerns.  It is time for the American people to unite.  Forget the hard feelings of the election and accept defeat or victory modestly without plans to gloat or undermine.  It is what it is.

What we are witnessing is the union of greedy, power hungry, statists that fear losing their power and corrupt ways. We will not have unity again, until we elect a Congress of qualified persons that put the needs and concerns of our country ahead of their own.  We have made great strides but the war remains to be fought.  We will remain divided as long as we put partisan politics at the forefront of Congress.  We need to vote out a large majority of the existing non-representation we have sent to Washington.

Mr. Trump will be our next President in just hours. Let him get into office so we can see what he does.  If he doesn’t perform positively then we can protest, impeach, badmouth and take all appropriate measures to get him out of office.  He is entitled to have a chance, and so are we.

The thoughts and ideas expressed above are exclusively those of Jack Straley. We may agree, and that’s fine, or we may disagree, that’s okay too.  My sole purpose is to encourage others to think, study, and become involved. Exercise your freedom and above all, when presented the opportunity, please vote.
