TRUTHS

I am very concerned. It appears the mass media has lost the ability to distinguish between truth, rumors, fact and fiction.  I have great friends and relatives that have received false information yet will not consider hearing or accepting the truth when presented.  I hope I can change that closed mindedness.

I have been told by some they cannot support Mr. Trump because they fear he will embarrass them. That may be, we can all be embarrassed by certain things that do not bother others.  As for myself, I cannot imagine being embarrassed any worse by anything he might say or do, than I have been by the actions of our sitting president.  He has made a world tour in which he apologized to every country he entered, most of whom we have rebuilt after wars or given aide and assistance than wound up in the pockets of illegitimate rulers or their counterparts in government.  We have been on the spot for every disaster experienced in this world and asked nothing in return.  Is it not embarrassing to apologize to these countries and/or their rulers?  He has bowed down to leaders of less than friendly countries while minimizing the influence of the United States of America.

Most disturbing to me is the amount of disinformation being poured out to the masses concerning Social Security. More than once I have been told Mr. Trump will stop or discontinue this program.  Very simply put, that is wrong, he will not.

Some of the following, regardless of my disclaimer, has been taken from the magazine Market Watch. In September of 2015 Donald Trump took the pledge to support the eventual Republican nominee for president.  Shortly after this pledge he was interviewed by Scott Pelly on the CBS Sunday news program, 60 Minutes. When asked if he still wanted to raise the retirement age to seventy, as he had stated before, he answered “No, I don’t think we should do that anymore.  I want to take back the money we are sending to other countries that want to kill us, and without increases, and we are not going to raise the Social Security age.”

Mr. Trump, when addressing the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington in March 2013, made a couple of statements indicating Social Security would not change. He stated, “As Republicans, if you think you are going to change Social Security in any substantial way, and you think you will win elections, it just really is not going to happen.

Mr. Obama and his staff have developed a wish list that Congress will have to approve; to give in excess of $33.7 billion planned foreign aid in 2016. That amount of money would do drastic things to insure the health and continuance of Social Security.

Social Security is an insurance program and it does face a serious problem. There are 77 million baby boomers about to enter the rolls of the retired and action needs to be taken to bolster the funds available.  Social Security is not an entitlement as Congress and the media like to say.  People are due a return on what they have had withheld from paychecks over their working careers.  “With the influx of some of the useless foreign aid money, you would find Social Security to be strong, sturdy, resilient and worth protecting” are the words of Mr. Trump spoken at the 2013 Conservative Political Action Conference.

Mr. Pelly further stated, “The truth is Trump may be the most informed politician when it comes to understanding the Social Security program.” He continued, “I cannot overlook the fact that Trump apparently understands one fundamental element of Social Security, and that is that Social Security is an important issue for many preparing for retirement.

It is not the least bit embarrassing to state that Donald Trump will continue the Social Security program and most likely strengthen it while protecting the program.

I’ve been speaking about what will and will not be done and who we believe will do it. What has been substantiated about Social Security, or anything else, by Hillary Clinton?  What else has she said that was the truth?  I wonder, who will we believe, who is most believable?

The thoughts and ideas expressed above are exclusively those of Jack Straley. We may agree, and that’s fine, or we may disagree, that’s okay too.  My sole purpose is to encourage others to think, study, and become involved. Exercise your freedom and above all else please vote.

  1. I’ve enjoyed reading this comment today. I am getting more confidence in Trump with each day. I believe he has grown during the campaign. I’ll admit, I had my doubts in the beginning but believe now that he truly has the nation’s best interest first. After all, everything he has accomplished in life, and that’s a lot, depends on economic success of the nation. Why would he mess that up? He has grown into a really presidential quality candidate. Regarding the alternative, he’s a prince! He’s got my vote!
