CHURCH & STATE
It seems the masses have forgotten that our nation’s laws were based on a Judeo – Christian foundation. A total separation of church and state was never the intent of our founding fathers. Every documented meeting our founders had was opened with prayer that included a sincere request from God in all their deliberations. Our Constitution guarantees us that there will not be a national church or religion that would demand our allegiance while guaranteeing we would have the right to practice the religion of our choice.
Extreme groups such as Atheists and the LGBT community continuously cry about separation of church and state. I would like to have a bully pulpit where I can remind them of the guarantees of the Constitution. This document that, when convenient, they try to disregard, gives them the freedom to protest and act as they do. Extremist groups, if allowed to have their way, would have all references of God removed from everything in our country. All currency, bills and most coin, have “God” engraved on them. The pledge of allegiance includes the verbiage “under God.” Most monuments would not be acceptable for public display if these extreme groups were allowed to rule.
If one looks carefully at this election cycle they will find church and state marching hand in hand. This year there is a revolution happening within our politics. The American people are revolting against the political establishment and most incumbents in Congress. The people are up in arms about the government controlling every aspect of our lives. We are rebelling about the way our country is being represented on the world stage. We are fighting for survival and the ability to keep the rewards we earn for our hard work and efforts. Our elected officials and the powers that control their puppet strings are having difficult time learning and accepting this fact.
Repeatedly I hear the talking heads on radio and television questioning how and why is Donald Trump receiving the backing of the evangelicals. The above mentioned rebellion does not stop with politics. This country has awakened, and people are voicing their unhappiness. They are also rebelling against the church. Most evangelicals, or Christians, are tired of the political correctness being force fed to them. Recent decisions rendered by the Supreme Court relating to same sex marriages, homosexuality and abortion have pushed God fearing people too far.
Equal rights to all people are guaranteed by our Constitution. However, we seem to have progressed to the point that evangelicals and Christians feel threatened and discriminated against when practicing their respective faiths. We must come to the realization, and I think we finally have, that we have the same rights as any other group and these rights need to be respected as well.
There was time when a person attended church on Sunday and heard a sermon based on morals and the teachings of the Bible. Pastors now appear to be scared and insecure concerning their lives, their jobs and their futures, if they take a stance favoring the lessons in the very Bible they hold in their hands. In most churches I feel it would be welcome and worthwhile to educate congregations about the basics of Islam. These teachings would show there is no way to continue a separation of church and state if Muslims are allowed to install Sharia law as dictated in the Koran.
The Koran dictates governing, crime and punishment, and how one must worship. The word “Sharia” as in Sharia Law means way or path and regulates both private and public aspects of the followers’ life. This is in no way compatible with the American way of life or the principles of our nation.
Yes, the American people have finally started a rebellion against church and state. Now we must pray that our efforts are for the correct cause and divinely led. We all need to ask God to direct us through this election year to make Christian decisions, and vote as he leads us.
