SCOTUS

We now stand at the brink of disaster. Our country has the most critical action looming that it has ever had.  This point has been caused by the unexpected untimely death of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia.  His replacement will direct the course of our future as citizens of The United States of America.

The Supreme Court consists of nine justices nominated by the President. Upon nomination they are subjected to passing an inquiry of Congress and then voted on to be accepted or rejected.  Most often they are approved and seated.  However, in the recent past, the nomination of Robert Bork in 1987 by Ronald Reagan was the most intense and abusive interrogation of any jurist to date.  Nominated to replace Justice Lewis Powell he eventually withdrew his nomination.  In 1991 President George H.W. Bush nominated Clarence Thomas to serve as an Associate Justice on The Supreme Court.  He was nominated to fill a vacancy left by Justice Thurgood Marshall.  A strict conservative, his nomination sparked the most contentious proceedings conducted up to that time.  Again the divisiveness was entirely along party lines.

President Obama has had two previous Supreme Court nominations approved. In 2009 Justice Sonia Sotomayor was approved and appointed to replace retiring Justice David Souter.  In 2010 Justice Elena Kagan won approval to replace the retiring Justice John Paul Stevens. Now we have an opening to replace Justice Antonin Scalia and there has been mention of another Justice retiring, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg, who has battled pancreatic cancer.  If all this transpires the Supreme Court would be loaded with left leaning Justices. The way present President has ignored the Constitution and overstepped his authority, we need a Supreme Court that will interpret, not write law.

The duty of The Supreme Court is to interpret law as was originally intended with the creation of the Constitution, not create law as they desire. A majority of five of the justices is needed for decisions to be rendered.  The court being staffed by a majority of liberals or a majority of conservatives, politically motivated, can alter history.  The Affordable Care Act, Obama Care, after going through court challenges ended up at the desk of The Supreme Court.  By a vote of five to four the act was ruled as legal giving the government authority to tax the people completely outside the confines or intents, of the Constitution. Recently the court decided that the second amendment the right to have and bear arms, applied to citizens of the United States and not just the military.  With just one vote, we could all be striped of our rights to be armed and own guns.  One vote can change history.

At this time we find ourselves in need of another Justice for the court. President Barack Obama is charged by the dictates of the Constitution to nominate a replacement for Justice Antonin Scalia. Congress will then have the opportunity to vet and eventually vote to accept or reject his nomination.  The choice the President makes and subsequently the choice Congress makes is vital.

The liberal leftwing of the Democrat party will demand an individual of extreme ideals. This cannot be accepted.  We need a person that will abide by the law of the land as the Constitution was originally written and was intended to be followed.  This is not a time for party politics.  Demand that our elected officials act in due diligence with the selection of our next Justice.  The will of the people is ringing loud across the land.  We want an individual that is lead by God that will act lawfully and uphold the rights of everyone justly, both liberal and conservative.

There will be more Supreme Justices to replace in the near future. These nominations will mold the future of our legal and moral attitudes for years to come.  There are several important issues before The Supreme Court at this time.  Will these issues have decisions rendered or placed on hold until the current vacancy is filled?  No one knows at this time. No one individual should ever be presented with the opportunity to load the Supreme Court with this many individuals openly leaning one way, liberal.

Pray for divine guidance, for all judgments and decisions, that will be made at this time. If certain nominations are made, we will no longer be able to ask for divine guidance, and the constitution will no longer mean anything, except to antique dealers.
