ESTABLISHMENT
This political season has been a rebellion. For once people have rebelled against the old guard or the “establishment.” No longer are the silent masses willing to be led or directed by the elite few power brokers. When Mr. Trump announced his candidacy for president, a new wind began to blow. People saw that a person could slip the bonds of the few, and say what was on his heart. It is time to circumvent the usual, run of the mill, career politicians. The gathering of senators both present and former and unemployed governors had a rude awakening.
The American people wanted an outsider. Someone from outside the beltway that had not been corrupted by self-serving interests. The shining star of the “establishment,” John Ellis Bush was no longer in favor with the electorate. Hope and change had not worked and now people just wanted real change. Candidates would stand before the crowds and make the same, stale promises that had been made before. People were tired of this rhetoric. As the campaign continued it became very evident that the “establishment” would not fade away quietly.
Any outsider candidate could draw crowds of unbelievable size and magnitude. Hope for real change was building and attracting new believers daily. Then we had the Iowa Caucasus take place. As with the history of the electorate of this wonderful country, people did not show up and voice their opinions and choices. Yes, call them what you may, but establishment non conservative candidates won. Don’t worry or fret, the “establishment” is alive and doing well. The winds of change do not blow strong when we wait on the other man to do our bidding. In reality, we get what we deserve, more of the same.
Change can never come to this nation until all individuals unite and exercise the God given right we have, that men have died to insure, and vote. As long as I wait for you to vote for me, nothing will change. Polls don’t put people in office. Polls can be answered by anyone in any way they want, but the vote is final and determining. Take part in this rite if for no other reason than to have the right to voice pleasure or displeasure about the results.
As long as I have breath left to speak I will stand on my soap box and beg and plead with each person I meet, become informed, get involved, and vote. Nothing will change on its own, it takes action and effort. We cannot continue down this road. Our country will be broke and we will be consumed by outside forces. Is that what you desire?
Feeling confused and somewhat down, I drove by the hospital on the way home. There, much to my surprise lay a body curled up on a gurney, obviously hurting. Upon closer inspection I saw it was hooked up to life support. My curiosity piqued I looked closer. On the wrist band I saw the name “Outsider” accompanied by the job of “true change.” I realized then just how serious was the condition of our hopes. There was still life but the heartbeat was weakened from what it had been such a short time before.
On Wikipedia I found the following: “The Establishment generally denotes a dominant group or elite that holds power.” Pretty well sums it up doesn’t it, the elite that holds power. It will continue as long as we do nothing.
Upon leaving the emergency room I felt I had to give a report. I regret to say, the establishment is alive. In fact it is alive and doing very well. I would like to remind everyone of a quote Joseph Stalin once said. The people who cast the votes don’t decide an election, the people who count the votes do. Unite, be vocal, be active, don’t let this come true in America.
