MORALS
What has happened to our “MORALS?” There was a time that one’s morals played a vital part in a person achieving his or her station in life. We have all studied in history of different individuals that commanded “high moral values.” Unspoken, it appeared that this was a virtue that was mandatory in persons seeking public office, whether elected or appointed.
Synonyms for moral are: ethical; virtuous; righteous; noble. Merriam-Webster goes on to state that moral means “conforming to a standard of what is right and wrong.” Our country was established, and government placed in motion, based on a standard of what is right and wrong. No one person has the wisdom to determine a set of rules explaining what is right and what is wrong. Our founding fathers invoked the aid of a higher power, a supreme deity, God, to help guide them. Most rules, regulations and laws were, and are, based on the Ten Commandments and the golden rule. This seems so simple, yet, it must not be.
I stand in awe as I watch people entrusted with running our country so flagrantly disregard all aspects of morality while serving the public. It can be proved almost every elected individual in our federal government, once elected lost what morals they had. The rhetoric spewed forth at each speech is wrapped in pretty decorations, but can never be realized. Our current president wouldn’t know the truth if it was hitting him in the face. Say anything you want or need to get elected. If we are foolish enough to believe them, we begin being led down a long, winding, dusty road, of no return.
The “Tea Party” emerged as a voice to change the deceit and reckless ways of doing business in Washington. The Tea Party chose and supported persons that were conservative and of good moral value. Their success has been very limited due to an all out effort of the good ole boys club in Washington and the old establishment. The only way to stop our elected officials from being bought and paid for by special interest groups, such as lobbyists, and big campaign contributors is to become involved and work to elect people that are not indebted to anyone or owe favors to anyone.
Big money controls the campaigns, with the assistance of the media. To combat big money, masses of people, thousands upon thousands, must make small contributions to finance the person of their choice, or, back a person that can self finance his endeavor. The only way we can combat the misleading information and innuendos published and aired is to become involved. Create community action groups. Attend local political meetings. Take part in the activity of your local area. Call out people when they state untruths and be educated enough to rebut them. We may have to start with lower goals such as electing city, county, and state officials that meet our standard of morality and conservatism. We can work up the ladder to achieve success in replacing every self-serving, crooked, lying politician we have blindly elected thus far.
Right now we have representation in Washington D.C., consisting of all members of Congress, President, and Vice-President that total over 5,000 years of experience. What has that done for us? Are you living better than generations before you, do we have as much or more freedom and liberty? Will you be able to proudly leave your descendents a better life than you have experienced? No one can honestly answer in the affirmative to either of these questions. We are leaving debts that will never be paid. We are giving up freedoms every day. We can no longer purchase a light bulb without facing the dictates of government The EPA alone has done more to destroy self governance and business growth than could ever be imagined.
Now is the time to rise up. Don’t forsake your morals for short term benefits. Support and elect persons that command high moral values. Always remember, it is not a bad thing nor is it illegal to ask the Almighty God of all, to help guide and protect us. If we do not seek the guidance of our God, our country will fall. Look at the ancient history of Israel for verification.
